TechSpec: 2014 Acura ILX
The 2014 Acura ILX luxury compact sedan was introduced as an all-new model for the 2013 model year. The ILX combines luxury, performance and efficiency. As a five-passenger sedan, the ILX combines compact proportions with a spacious passenger interior and ample cargo space.
The new sedan features a high-quality, well-appointed interior that offers a number of high-value features including a standard keyless access system with smart entry and pushbutton start, along with Pandora internet radio interface and SMS text message function for smart connectivity.
New for 2014 are upgraded 17-inch alloy wheels, while the interior received new leather seating surfaces and leatherette door liners, an eight-way power driver’s seat, heated front seats and an active noise cancellation system — and all are standard features.
Three advanced powertrain choices are available for 2014, with a standard 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder engine, producing 150 horsepower. Paired with a sequential sportshift five-speed automatic transmission, the ILX 2.0-liter has an EPA-estimated city/highway/combined fuel economy of 24/35/28 mpg. For those who seek a more dynamic driving experience, the ILX can be equipped with a close-ratio six-speed manual transmission matched to a 2.4-liter engine, generating 201 horsepower and earning an EPA-estimated city/highway/combined fuel economy rating of 22/31/25 mpg. A 2014 Acura ILX Hybrid is set to be announced at a later date.
The ILX uses 59 percent high-strength steel in its body structure for enhanced protection and chassis rigidity. The ILX chassis utilizes advanced MacPherson strut front and multi-link rear suspension systems, along with Acura signature amplitude reactive dampers. The dampers operate in two distinct performance parameters to simultaneously provide superior ride comfort and precision handling. In addition, motion adaptive electric power steering is used for excellent steering and improved fuel efficiency. The result is a chassis with a high level of refinement, confident handling, and a nimble and sporty driving experience.
Multiple trim levels — Premium and Technology — are available. The available Premium Package features leather seating surfaces, heated front seats, an upgraded 360-watt stereo system, a rearview camera and an active sound cancellation system to make for a quieter cabin.
Building on the Premium Package, the Technology Package adds Acura’s award-winning ELS Surround audio system and a full complement of technologies, including AcuraLink Satellite Communication System, Acura Navigation System with voice recognition, AcuraLink Real-Time Traffic with traffic rerouting and AcuraLink Real-Time Weather with radar image maps.
The base model 2014 ILX with a five-speed automatic transmission carries an MSRP of $26,900. A top-of-the-line 2014 ILX with a six-speed manual transmission and Premium Package starts at $29,200. Adding accessories, such as a car cover, front underbody spoiler, side underbody spoiler, body side molding, a decklid spoiler and 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels will increase the pricetag to about $33,600.
