Welcome to NOLN.net, the leading source for news and information about the fast lube and quick oil change industry. From technical tips to operational strategies to secrets of success, you'll find it here.

Click the image above to view the July ePub, an all-digital version of NOLN you can read from anywhere in the world directly through your Web browser. It's a great way to catch up on the industry when you're on the go.

TIME IS RUNNING OUT! The 2009 Fast Lube Operators Survey questionnaire is online now, and we need your help. The more lube operators and managers who respond, the more accurate the data will be, meaning a clearer picture of where the industry stands. As an added bonus, everyone who completes the survey will be entered into a drawing for a free windshield wiper display courtesy of Bosch and Service Champ. The display is valued at $450, and can provide double or even triple that amount in add-on sales. To complete the survey online (a process so easy you'll never want to pick up a pencil again) click here. And to see a list of rules for the Bosch/Service Champ drawing, click here.

Inside the July issue, it's all motor oil all the time. We kick off the issue with our annual look at the specialty and "niche" motor oil available in the fast lube market, a feature we call the "Specialty Motor Oil Guide." You can read more about it here, or to download the guide and begin reading right away, click here.

Our coverage of motor oil doesn't end there, either. We also have a special report on the future of passenger car motor oil (PCMO), a feature that kicks off with a look at the new Dexos motor oil specification from General Motors and continues with a look at where the ILSAC GF-5 motor oil specification currently stands.

If you weren't able to attend the AOCA Convention in Atlanta in May (or even if you were and just want to relive the experience), check out our comprehensive coverage of the lube industry's only dedicated trade event, beginning with a full recap of events and continuing with a look at some of the things we learned at the show.

Elsewhere in the July issue, we take a look at what dealership closings could mean for the industry. We also have a feature on a unique four-legged greeter that one Michigan lube shop employs. Our series on "lubetopian" customer service continues with a discussion of serving customers who wait inside their cars. Plus, our "From the Bean Counter" tax column is a web-exclusive this month, readable only right here.

We continue to expand our "FSO (For Subscribers Only)" section. This month, we've added a free newsletter called "Service Snippets." It's designed for you to download, print out and distribute to your customers, and it explains in easy language how fast lube service will uphold a vehicle's new car warranty, and how the vehicle service history kept by most fast lube facilities can improve a car's resale value. Click here if you're not a paid subscriber but would like to be, or e-mail Mai Lee for more information on becoming a paid subscriber to NOLN and taking advantage of the many resources to which paid subscribers have access here at NOLN.net.

Our Downloads section — where we post free posters and other items of interest that lube operators can use to woo customers — has also been updated with a new poster designed to educate motorists about the importance of light bulb replacement, and how this simple service can help keep them and their families safe by keeping their vehicle visible. Download it, print it out and display it. And, look for more free stuff in the future as we continually work to help lube operators thrive.

Tired of wading through thousands of search items looking for that product or service that will make your fast lube more efficient? Try our ONLINE BUYERS GUIDE. This searchable database of virtually every fast lube industry vendor and their product/service offerings is sure to include just what you need. It's a great tool you'll want to visit time and time again!

As always, if you are looking for an answer to a technical question you can simply post your query on our Lube Chat forum (click on "Resources/Lube Chat" in the menu above). You can receive answers from any one of the many fellow operators who frequent this forum.

If you're looking for news more than once per month, we've got a couple of resources you can check out. First, sign up for our biweekly NOLN eNews in the box at left. Then, twice each month (or more), we'll deliver late-breaking industry news, an updated industry calendar and other information directly to your e-mail inbox. And, don't forget to check out our Lube News Blog, a frequently updated weblog containing news and notes from around the industry, sprinkled with a bit of this and a bit of that from our staff. You can read the headlines before they even become headlines. Plus, readers can leave their own insightful comments about the industry.
