TechSpec 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee - September 2010

TechSpec: 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee
(Continued)

Servicing the Grand Cherokee
Like most new Chrysler vehicles, the Grand Cherokee comes with an oil change indicator system similar in design and function to GM’s engine oil life system. While the system does not monitor the physical condition of the motor oil, it does use a computer algorithm to calculate remaining engine oil life based on a wide array of operating conditions.

Generally, however, the maximum allowable oil change intervals using the system will be every 8,000 miles or six months.

To reset the “Oil Change Due” reminder:
1. Turn ignition switch to the ON/RUN position (but do not start engine).
2. Fully depress the accelerator pedal three times within 10 seconds.
3. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF/LOCK position.

Maintenance Intervals
Every 8,000 miles/six months:
• Change the engine oil and engine oil filter.
• Rotate tires. (Note: Chrysler warns that tires should be rotated at first sign of irregular wear, even if it occurs before scheduled maintenance.)

Every 16,000 miles or 12 months:
• If vehicle is operated in dusty or off-road conditions, inspect engine air cleaner filter and replace, if necessary.
• Inspect brake linings and replace, if necessary.
• Inspect CV joints, exhaust system, front suspension, tie-rod ends and boot seals (for cracks or leaks).

Every 24,000 miles or 18 months:
• Inspect front and rear axle fluid and replace, if necessary.
