A scary moment for not one, but two drivers, who within minutes of each other slid on the same patch of ice and crashed into an auto shop.

The first car was traveling on South Academy just before 2:30 a.m. Saturday when the driver hit a slick spot, lost control, hopped a curb and started rolling towards the nearby Jiffy Lube. The car went through one bay door and out the other before it stopped.

Police were still investigating the first crash when a second car slid in the same spot, hopped the curb and started sliding towards the officers. The driver was able to stop before going into the bay.

Our crew at the scene said a mother and small child were in one of the cars, and a couple of teenagers in the other. All were shaken up, but otherwise unhurt.

Police do not believe drugs or alcohol had any part in either crash. The road conditions appeared to be the main factor in both.

The Jiffy Lube is located on 2310 S. Academy Blvd. in Colorado Springs.
