Big Mess for a Burglarized Big O Tires

March 27, 2019

"There’s all sorts of tools everywhere, but, that’s not what he was after."

A puzzling burglary at a Kaysville, Utah, Big O Tires was caught on camera over the weekend.

It occurred at 7 a.m. Saturday morning, March 23, when employees were arriving for their shifts.

Max Hanson with Big-O Tires said he was confused by the break in and theft, according to KJZZ.com

“There’s all sorts of tools everywhere, but, that’s not what he was after,” said Hanson.

Before hitting Big O Tires, the suspect attempted to break into Biker's Edge.

The surveillance video from Big O Tires shows the man crawl through a broken bay window and unsuccessfully try to open the bay door before climbing into a customer's SUV and backing straight out, ripping the door from the building.

Hanson said the customer took it well, “We were lucky it was one of our really good customers, he knew it wasn’t our fault.”

It appears the stolen and damaged Toyota Sequoia was left just down the road where the burglar returned to a stolen Audi he was previously driving, according to police.

“We don’t know what he was doing, makes no sense,” Hanson said.

The motive is unclear, but Hanson expressed that he would be satisfied just to know that the criminal has been caught and is behind bars. Layton Police identified the same man as a suspect in another case.

Kaysville Police shared an update on their page Monday evening stating that the suspect had been caught.
