Audi EV Alerts Driver to Get Oil Change

The battery-powered vehicle doesn't need oil changes, but why not give it a shot?

Feb. 13, 2020—As you well know, battery-electric vehicles don't require oil changes. But why not give it a shot?

That was the option presented to one Audi e-tron driver, according to Electrek. A message popped up on the driver's dash display saying "oil change and inspection in 200 mi."

It's likely that Audi's periodic maintenance alert programming was simply copied over, oil change message and all. The driver told Electrek that he found it a bit funny, though it's a sign that the EV isn't a fully matured product yet.

The e-tron in question is approaching 10,000 miles. Electrek checked the owner's manual for the recommended maintenance, which really just including checking everything. Depending on a quick lube's service and retail menu, the e-tron could potentially get service on its brakes, tires and wiper blades.
