Report: Drivers Neglect Car Maintenance During Pandemic

July 23, 2020

A new report shows that nearly half of Americans have delayed or canceled a vehicle maintenance appointment during the pandemic.

July 23, 2020—A new report says more than two-thirds of Americans surveyed did not perform routine maintenance on their vehicles when they were due during the pandemic, according to a press release.

According to the release, the Hankook Tire Gauge Index found that nearly half (48 percent) of Americans surveyed have delayed or canceled a vehicle maintenance appointment. Further, even more did not perform routine maintenance, like topping off their vehicle's fluids (73 percent) or checking their tire pressure regularly (70 percent).

With businesses reopening and travel volumes increasing, most Americans surveyed (80 percent) said they expect their normal driving habits to resume no later than the end of 2020, and 60 percent of respondents plan on taking more car trips as concerns linger over plane travel.
