KIA Unveils New EV Plans

Kia's goal is that by 2030, EVs, hybrids, and plug-in hybrids will make up 40 percent of all its sales.

Feb. 11, 2021—Kia Motors announced that 11 electric vehicle models will be available by 2026, Car and Driver reported. 

Currently the South Korean car company offers two EVs, the Soul and the Niro. Of the 11 models, seven will be built on Hyundai Motor Group’s EV platform. The announcement of their availability in 2026 moves up the previous timeline, which expected the models to be available in 2027. 

Kia's goal is that by 2030, EVs, hybrids, and plug-in hybrids will make up 40 percent of all its sales, with a target of 1.6 million vehicles sold. The company said it is hoping that 880,000 of those will be EVs.
