June 17th, 2021—The great-grandson of Henry Ford will be leaving his position with Ford Motor Co. after 15 years with the company.
According to a report from the Detroit Free Press, Henry Ford III will no longer work in investor relations for the company, though he will still maintain his position on Ford's board of directors. Ford III told colleagues at the company in an email he believes "new external viewpoints" will allow him to help better guide the company. A Ford spokesperson told the Detroit Free Press that Ford III's decision did not come as a surprise to the company. With Ford III stepping down from his position, the company will compensate him as it does other board members who are not employed by the company.
Ford III had worked with the company since 2006.
