Dec. 16, 2021—A town in the northeast Twin Cities metropolitan area has rejected an initial proposal to build an oil change facility in its main commercial center.
According to a report from the Quad Community Press, Boing US Holdco, Inc. submitted a land use application to the Lino Lakes municipal council to build a car wash and separate oil change facility on a 1.32 acre site in the Lino Lakes Market Place shopping center. The car wash would have been 4,000 square feet with 15 vacuum cleaner bays, and the oil change shop would have had three bays.
The council rejected the proposal due to noise concerns and other considerations.
“I really like the idea of the facility, but I’m not thrilled with the location. I have no problem with changing what that corner is slated for. I don’t care if it is a bank or not, I just don’t think this is the right business for that corner,” Lino Lakes City Council Member Tony Cavegn said. “This is our main commercial center of the city, and I don’t know that that’s the first thing we want to see as we drive into our main commercial center.”
A spokesman for Driven Brands said that location was the only one in the city they were really interested in.
