March 17, 2022—The U.S. Department of Justice announced a $3.1 million settlement with a diesel performance company over the sale and manufacture of emissions control systems.
In a press release, the department says that Power Performance Enterprises of Louisiana pleaded guilty to Clean Air Act provisions that ban the manufacture or sale of devices that bypass or defeat emissions controls. The company's sales reached 175,000 vehicles and the company tuned 500 vehicles daily.
“The defendants sold products nationwide that allowed drivers to illegally tamper with emissions controls in a manner that caused dramatic increases in emissions,” said U.S. Attorney Phillip A. Talbert for the Eastern District of California, where the case was heard.
