July 5, 2022—General Motors has announced that the 2023 GMC Terrain will have an electro-hydraulic braking system.
According to GM Authority, the new crossover will start production in late August 2022. The e-assist braking program that will be implemented into the cars has a 13 pound module that eliminates the master cylinder, the vacuum pump and hoses.
The module will take up less space under the hood of the car, and the braking system is one that, according to General Motors, "interprets and converts driver brake pedal input and provides a corresponding hydraulic pressure output to activate a standard brake system.”
This system will also be found in the 2023 Chevy Equinox. GM's first vehicle to utilize this type of e-assist braking was the 2019 Cadillac XT4.
