Engine Teardown Reveals Consequences of 10K-Mile Oil Change Intervals

Aug. 9, 2022—A YouTuber with the handle The Car Care Nut recently showed an engine teardown from a client's 2015 Toyota Camry.

According to the description of the video shared by Carscoops, the Camry owner was told by their dealer that an oil change interval of 10,000 miles was perfectly fine. But at around 120,000 miles, the engine started burning oil.

Upon investigation by The Car Care Nut, it appeared that oil was seeping past the piston rings, a problem associated with premature wear of cylinder walls due to infrequent oil changes. Check out the video for yourself below:
