North Idaho Snowfall Leads to Busy Tire Shops

Nov. 9, 2022

Recent snowfall in the region has inspired residents to swap out their tires.

Nov. 9, 2022—Recent snowfall in northern Idaho has led to an increase in customer presence at tire and repair shops as they prepare for the winter season.

According to the Coeur d'Alene/Post Falls Press, snow fell in the region last Friday. Coeur d'Alene Les Schwab Tire Center store manager Kevin Johnson told The Press that his shop has been busy as customers seek tires that are better equipped for winter wear. He said that his fully staffed team has been prioritizing customers with appointments, but they also make time for the people who come into the store. He has told customers to give the shop a day or a day and a half to complete the job.

Knudtsen Chevrolet in Post Falls may be a dealership, but it has been busy with tire appointments as well. Jeff Hildesheim, parts sales specialist, recommended that customers have patience as tires are currently subject to supply issues.

Richard Dance is a resident of Hayden, and he told The Press that he went to a local tire store before it opened only to find himself in a line of about 20 other people with the same idea. Dance said that the store manager said the shop had been open until until 11:30 p.m. and even later in the days prior due to high demand and low staff. The shop usually closes at 6 p.m.
