Feb. 6, 2023–A car technician at Express Auto Service in Fredericksburg, Virginia, adopted a kitten found inside of a customer’s vehicle, the Free Lance-Star reports.

Porteah Ballard, an auto technician at the shop, found the kitten after it had wandered into the engine bay of a customer’s vehicle being worked at in the shop located on Emancipation Highway.

Fellow auto technician Carroll Brown told reporters as he stood over the vehicle with its hood open, “I popped the hood, and it came from this direction of the car,” he said, motioning over the right side. The kitten then jumped out to the right, ejecting itself from the engine bay, according to Brown.

The kitten had nowhere else to go, Ballard said. “It was so cute and so tiny, and I love animals,” she said.

Ballard hasn’t decided what to name the kitten yet. “I wanted to name it something related to the car, but none of the names matched the cat. She is, like, a really spicy but sweet cat,” she told the Free Lance-Star.
