The Hancock County Chamber of Waveland, Mississippi, held a public meeting for local residents to learn more about an upcoming Express Oil Change & Tire Engineers location, WLOX-TV reports.
The new Express Oil Change will be joining several other commercial developments also entering Waveland, including a Marriott hotel, hibachi restaurant, McAlister’s, and Harbor Freight store.
According to a Facebook post from the City of Waveland, the new Express Oil Change will be taking the place of a former car wash on Highway 90, in front of a Walmart. Though there hasn’t been a date set for construction to begin yet, it’s expected to take six months to complete.
Waveland’s addition of Express Oil Change along with other businesses is an effort from the town to expand its commercial offerings. At last week’s meeting, Mayor Jay Trapani told attendees that there would be plans to improve the aesthetic of Highway 90.
Though the city doesn’t intend on asking any businesses to alter their layout, there is a focus on encouraging more businesses facing away from main roads.
“When you have existing businesses, you can’t go to somebody and tell them to turn their buildings around. We’re looking for new construction that comes in trying to fit the plan, sometimes it’s not possible but if we can, we’ll do that,” said Trapani.
