Aug. 4. 2022—AAA has reported a record number of calls for its Emergency Roadside Service crews in Mississippi.
According to WJTV, AAA responded to 6,781 roadside calls made by stranded drivers in July 2022. That number is a five-year high for the state of Mississippi.
“A perfect mixture of extreme heat, increased traffic, and older vehicles remaining on the roads made July one of the busiest months on record for breakdowns,” said AAA Vice President of Automotive Services Ray Posey to WJTV. “While AAA is always ready to respond to roadside emergencies, a professional and thorough vehicle inspection can help reduce the chance of a serious breakdown.”
AAA has been recommending that drivers stay on top of battery maintenance as well as engine care and tire care.
Dead batteries were the number one cause for Mississippi drivers to call for assistance, according to AAA.
