Conn. Emissions Test System Down from Malware

April 23, 2021

Officials hope to resume testing by the end of April.

April 23, 2021—The Connecticut state emissions test system has been down for about a month after a malware attack, reports FOX61.

The third-party company that operates the data management system was the target of the malware attack. It forced the company to shut down its servers. One shop owner told FOX61 that the lack of emissions testing meant that around 50 vehicles per day didn't come by the shop.

The software will need to be re-installed on site at each shop location.

Other states that used the same software vendor were affected. Georgia and Massachusetts were among them.
