Construction on a new Strickland Brothers 10 Minute Oil Change will begin in Palatine, Illinois, the Daily Herald reports.
The new Strickland Brothers location is located at 220 N. Northwest Highway, where a Mother Cluckers Chicken restaurant formerly operated. The 3,200-square-foot building that currently sits there is set to be demolished and replaced with a 1,750-square-foot facility.
A special use and a zoning variation were granted by village council members, allowing the business to have “a setback of five feet along the property's south side, instead of the required 10 feet,” with Village Planning and Zoning Director Ben Vyverberg noting that the current building has “only a 1-foot setback on the south side.”
Officials cited the current building’s “unusual shape and frontages on three roadways” as making it difficult to work with.
“It's a challenging site from a redevelopment perspective,” Vyverberg said.
According to the business plan, the store will account for “two to eight cars on site at any time” as well as three to four employees.
