The 2016 Chevrolet Tahoe is an all-new version of the popular full-size SUV designed to be more functional and refined, while offering more safety features and a greater range of advanced technologies.

The Tahoe is available in LS, LT and LTZ models with a standard V-8 engine and highway efficiency of up to EPA-estimated 23 mpg highway (2WD models), when properly equipped. It has a maximum trailering rating of 8,600 pounds (2WD).

All Tahoe models (2WD and 4WD) feature an updated, aluminum, front suspension design in addition to other chassis and suspension features including, shear-style body mounts, third-generation magnetic ride control, 18-inch standard wheels and four-wheel disc brakes with Duralife brake rotors.

The Tahoe is equipped with standard and available safety features including seven standard airbags and a safety alert seat that vibrates if the system determines the vehicle is at risk of colliding with another car. Other safety features include, side blind zone alert, lane change alert, rear cross traffic alert, forward collision alert, lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control and crash imminent braking.

The 5.3L engine offered in the Tahoe is rated at 355 horsepower (265 Kw) and 383 pounds-feet of torque (519 Kw). The engine features direct injection and cylinder deactivation, along with continuously variable valve timing and an advanced combustion system.

All models are matched with a six-speed automatic transmission that complements the 5.3L engine with features that make fuel efficiency and reduced engine speed on the highway possible, as well as hauling and trailering easier and more comfortable, including auto grade braking and a tow/haul mode.

The 2015 Tahoe boasts enhanced functionality, comfort and connectivity with a 4.2-inch color driver information center display, hands-free liftgate operation, Chevy MyLink with a built-in available 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot, fold-flat second- and third row seats and a wireless phone charging feature.

The all-new Chevrolet Tahoe carries a starting Manufacturer’s Recommended Starting Price of $45,890. A top-of-the-line Chevrolet Tahoe LTZ 4WD will cost a driver just under $66,000.

Servicing the 2016 Chevrolet Tahoe

Because of the way people use vehicles, maintenance needs vary. Some vehicles may require checks and services more frequently. The Additional Required Services – Normal are for vehicles that carry passengers and cargo within recommended limits on the Tire and Loading Information label, are driven on reasonable road surfaces within legal driving limits and use the recommended fuel. The Additional Required Services – Severe are for vehicles that are mainly driven in heavy city traffic in hot weather, in hilly or mountainous terrain, frequently towing a trailer, used for high-speed or competitive driving or used for taxi, police or delivery service.

When the “Change Engine Oil Soon” message displays, have the engine oil and filter changed within the next 600 miles (1,000 km). If driven under the best conditions, the engine oil life system may not indicate the need for vehicle service for up to a year. The engine oil and filter must be changed at least once a year, and the oil life system must be reset.

Every 7,500 miles (12,000 km):

• Rotate tires

• Check engine oil level and oil life percentage. If needed, change engine oil and filter and reset oil life system

• Check engine coolant level

• Check windshield washer fluid level

• Visually inspect windshield wiper blades for wear, cracking, or contamination; replace worn or damaged wiper blades

• Check tire inflation pressures

• Inspect tire wear

• Visually check for fluid leaks

• Inspect engine air cleaner filter

• Inspect brake system

• Visually inspect steering suspension and chassis components for damaged, loose or missing parts or signs of wear

• Check restraint system components

• Visually inspect fuel system for damage or leaks

• Lubricate body components

• Check starter switch

• Check automatic transmission shift lock control function

• Check ignition transmission lock

• Check parking brake and automatic transmission park mechanism

• Check accelerator pedal for damage, high effort or binding; replace, if needed

• Visually inspect gas strut for signs of wear, cracks or other damage; check the hold-open ability of the strut

• Verify spare tire key lock operation and lubricate as needed
