There were no injuries Monday after a vehicle struck a side wall of the Meineke Care Car Center on Bluefield Avenue.

The accident was reported at approximately 1:45 p.m. The driver of the Chrysler 300, a customer who was pulling into the parking lot of Meineke, got nervous, and hit the gas pedal instead of the brake, according to Patrolman J.B. Fox of the Bluefield Police Department.

“She pressed the gas and hit the wall,” Fox said.

The impact of the collision between the wall and the vehicle caused some structural damage to the building, according to Captain Jimmy Perkins of the Bluefield Fire Department.

Perkins said a section of the store was temporarily roped off until the building can be properly inspected. Perkins said the damage was confined to one area. The store is still open for business.
