Ford has created a custom, one-off Shelby GT350 Mustang that was apparently inspired by the “Ole Yeller” P-51D Mustang, a famous aircraft most known for wowing crowds at the Reno National Championship Air Races. The special GT350 will be auctioned off in a few weeks to benefit the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) youth programs.

The “Ole Yeller” Mustang attempts to mimic the historic airplane’s bright color scheme, which Ford said is a custom hue, and not the Triple Yellow option available on normal GT350 models. Like the airplane, the custom GT350 also features green accents, including the “Ole Yeller” badges on the rear fenders. Other mods appear to come straight out of SEMA. In addition to the gigantic rear wing, there’s green exterior accent lighting under the car and behind the grille. More bright green is used for the brake calipers, side mirror caps, and interior accent pieces.

That said, the GT350’s important hardware remains untouched underneath the garish appearance mods. Its 5.2-liter V-8 still makes 526 hp and 429 lb-ft of torque and is mated to a six-speed manual transmission.

The custom GT350 will be auction off on July 28 during the EAA Airventure Oshkosh event. All proceeds will benefit the EAA, which organizes events and provides resources for aspiring aviation pilots and engineers. Ford has donated eight custom Mustangs in the past, including last year’s Apollo Edition Mustang that paid tribute to the Apollo space program.
