Cottman Transmission and Total Auto Care has introduced a coloring and activity book for children that is designed to engage them as they learn more about the importance of auto care.
The book, which features the Cottman Man — the company’s animated spokesperson — is available at Cottman locations throughout the country as well as online.
Advanced Auto Parts provided funding to help subsidize the cost of printing the coloring books, some of which also will be donated to children’s hospitals in communities served by Cottman centers.
“This is one of many ways that Advance Auto Parts supports the various communities we serve with trusted partners like Cottman,” said Scott Krinsky, Advance’s director of strategic accounts. “We are excited to be part of this effort to provide fun activities for children that teach them the importance of car service at an early age.”
According to Derik Beck, Cottman’s vice president of digital marketing, the idea for the new coloring and activity book was sparked by his own children, who were interested in adding their own creativity to a project he was working on.
“I brought home a few of the preliminary sketches from the animated series and left them on the kitchen table,” Mr. Beck said. “When I got back, my kids had discovered them and were giving them a new look with the help of a box of crayons. They were having the best time, and it got me thinking.”
Activities in the coloring book are designed to teach children about automotive care. They include a variety of puzzles such as connect-the-dots, word search, maze and compare-the-images. An answer page at the end of the book allows children’s work to be checked.
“This is for the kids. Gives them something to do at home, and, since I have two children of my own, I know that the more activities, the better,” Mr. Beck said. “And if we can help them learn something they can use when they’re older, so much the better.”
