It won’t be called Top Gear, it may or may not feature his famous co-hosts Richard Hammond and James May, but the word is out. Jeremy Clarkson will return to TV screens in the future, on a new motoring program.

The news comes from Jeremy Clarkson himself, writing in his Sunday Times column that he’s having “another baby, but I can’t tell you what it will look like.” The BBC motoring host compared his experiences on Top Gear as a “many-tentacled global monster,” which was “all-consuming” but a project he loved like his own child.

Though his dismissal from the program came at his own actions — the infamous ‘fracas’ between he and Top Gear producer Oisin Tymon — Jeremy Clarkson noted the events leading up to and following the altercation were the most stressful experiences of his life. Clarkson revealed that two days prior to the incident, he had been informed that a lump on his tongue was cancerous.

He has since been given an all-clear medically, but in the wake of losing his mother and his marriage, he noted his personal life as “beyond-belief stressful.” He continued, “but everybody has stressful days, and they manage to cope better than I did.”

Clarkson now admits it’s time to “pick up the pieces” and start another show. For Top Gear fans worldwide, this comes as welcome news. However, the program’s format, network affiliation and co-star lineup remains unknown for the time being. Though given the history between Clarkson, Hammond and May, the triumvirate of motoring will likely remain intact.
