The Lincoln Motor Company reintroduced its flagship Lincoln Continental, as an all-new model in 2017. An all-new Lincoln-exclusive 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 engine producing up to 400 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque is available with an all-wheel drive drivetrain. A 3.7L Ti-VCT V6 — with 305 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque — is standard, and a 2.7L twin turbo V6 engine — with 335 horsepower and 380 poundfeet of torque — is optional. The 3.7L Ti-VCT V6 engine features electronic multi-port gasoline injection fuel delivery, while the 2.7L and 3.0L twin turbo V6 engines are gasoline direct injection.

Lincoln Drive Control provides the driver a choice of three settings — comfort, normal and sport — adapting steering and suspension setups to tailor ride and handling. Continuously controlled damping helps isolate Continental from road imperfections, while adaptive steering technology improves steering efficiency and effort.

Pre-Collision Assist with Pedestrian Detection uses radar and camera technology to scan the roadway ahead and, if a collision risk with a vehicle or pedestrian is detected, provides a warning to the driver. If the driver does not respond in time, the system can automatically apply up to full braking force. Pre-Collision Assist can help drivers avoid rear-end collisions with other vehicles at all speeds, while Pedestrian Detection can help drivers avoid pedestrians at lower speeds.

To take the stress out of parallel and perpendicular parking, Lincoln uses ultrasonic sensors on the front and rear of the Continental to help locate an appropriate parking space, then automatically steer the car in. The driver only has to operate the brake and gas pedals. A 360-degree camera system uses views from cameras mounted in the grille, decklid and 180-degree side mirrors, seamlessly stitching these snapshots together to create an image in the screen so drivers can see around the car, same as if a camera is overhead.
Designed to provide a serene experience, the all-new Continental’s interior is crafted to be physically comforting, visually soothing and peacefully quiet. An interior highlight is the new Perfect Position Seats — inspired by private jets and high-end office furniture — which can be adjusted up to 30 ways. The patented design allows the seat to adjust to individual body shapes and weights for optimal stretch and comfort. Rear passengers also enjoy first-class travel amenities such as audio and climate control, adjustable sunshades and reclining, heated, cooled and massaging seats.

The Continental features four trim levels: Premier, Select, Reserve and Black Label. Three Lincoln Black Label designer themes are available — Chalet, Thoroughbred and Rhapsody.

The all-new Lincoln Continental carries a starting price of $44,560.

Servicing the 2017 Lincoln Continental

The 2017 Lincoln Continental is equipped with the Intelligent Oil-Life Monitor (IOLM) system, which displays a message in the information display at the proper oil change interval. This interval may be up to one year or 10,000 miles (16,000 km).

When the oil change message appears in the information display, it is time for an oil change. Make sure you perform the oil change within two weeks or 500 miles (800 km) of the message appearing.

The IOLM determines when a driver should change their engine oil based on how they use their vehicle. Drivers who drive normal commuting with highway driving; light, or moderate, load or towing; flat to moderately hilly roads; no extended idling should expect a message prompting them to service their vehicle between 7,500-10,000 miles (12,000-16,000 km). Drivers who drive with moderate to heavy load or towing; mountainous or offroad conditions; extended idling; extended hot or cold operation should expect a message at 5,000-7,499 miles (8,000-11,999 km). Drivers who drive with maximum load or towing or in extreme hot or cold operation should expect a message at 3,000-4,999 miles (4,800-7,999 km).
