The 69-year-old rocker and motorsport fanatic was participating in the Celebrity Challenge Trophy race at the Silverstone Classic event in Northamptonshire when he flipped over his Austin A35 vehicle.
Brian emerged unscathed from the accident, but was unable to start the race around the famous Silverstone track.
Motorsport.com editor Nick DeGroot posted pictures of the frightening incident on Twitter, in which Brian lost control of his car while cornering in treacherous wet weather conditions. Another Twitter user with the handle @swiffyc attended the event and posted images of the crash, writing that Brian had walked away from his car after being attended to by medics.
Other stars who raced in the event, which raised £10,000 for the charity Prostate Cancer UK, included Take That singer Howard Donald and Travis drummer Neil Primrose.
In an interview posted on the Silverstone Classic website, Howard admitted he was lucky to avoid Brian's fate. Howard said, "Once the weather changed, everything changed - it became very slippery! When I saw cars spinning in front of me, it made me happy as it wasn't me!"
The Highway to Hell singer was forced to stop touring with AC/DC last year (16) after doctors told him he faced losing his hearing if he continued to play rock concerts.
Brian is not the only rock legend to crash while motor racing, as in March (17) Pink Floyd drummer Nick Mason crashed a McLaren F1 GTR supercar while driving around Goodwood Circuit.
