HOT ROD announced that the 13th annual HOT ROD Drag Week 2017 Powered by Dodge and brought to you by Gear Vendors Overdrive is back to determine the title of Fastest Street Car in America at the September 10-15 competition.

Competitors will be put to a grueling test over five days of drag racing and upward of 1,000 miles covered in the same car with the same engine, all to determine who will earn the title Fastest Street Car in America. An impressive display of vehicles will also be open at each stop. Competitors will include Jeff Lutz, who won the 2016 HOT ROD Drag Week with his 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Pro Mod, as well as 2015 champion Tom Bailey.

“HOT ROD Drag Week powered by Dodge and brought to you by Gear Vendors Overdrive is an unmatched validation of man and machine,” said Douglas Glad, Content Director for TEN’s Aftermarket Performance Group. “Both on the track and off, racers push themselves and their cars to the literal breaking point. Long hours, 1,000-plus street miles, and on-track torture testing are all part of the equation for ultimate victory and fastest street car in America bragging rights.”

Drag Week is about more than just clocking the lowest elapsed time on the strips; the racers will also have to drive their vehicles on a specified route from city to city. The crew at HOT ROD will require photographic evidence from each entry that drivers are adhering to the prescribed route. Drivers will be on the clock for five straight days and must remain alert to all rules.

The first stop of the competition, Cordova International Raceway in Cordova, Ill., will be open Sunday, Sept. 10 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. for registration, tech inspection and test and tune. Spectators can see the field of competitors as they undergo tech inspection then take the track for some test time prior to the first day of racing on Monday, Sept. 11.

Drag Week will also be viewable via livestream programming at HotRod.com/dragweek, September 11-15.
