Evans Express Lube at 701 Live Oak St. in Marlin sold the winning ticket on Saturday before the drawing.

The winner has not come forward.

"I do not know who it is,” said Charles Evans, 88, the store’s owner.

“I know they haven't claimed it, and I don't get my money until they do," he said.

Four generations of Evans' family met with KWTX in the store Tuesday, all hoping the winning ticket owner will show up soon.

Tammy Krumnow, who manages the store for Evans, says the person who won played six specific numbers rather than purchasing a quick-pick ticket, for which numbers are selected randomly.

"He or she has obviously been playing the game a long time,” she said.

“I know all of the strangers who stop here and they didn't buy any Saturday so I'm still looking for two of my regulars who haven't come in in the past two days," Krumnow said.

"I'm pretty sure they are local," she said.

Evans has run the gas station, store, oil change and tire business for decades.

He’s sold some winning tickets before, but none worth as much as this one.

"I’ve been selling lotto tickets for 15 years, I've had two $50 thousand winners but never anything like this,” he said.

“It couldn't of happened at a better time,” he said.

“Like I say, I hope the people that got the big one will enjoy it far more than I do."

Saturday’s winning numbers were 12, 15, 17, 31, 38, and 47.

UPDATE:

A Marlin resident has claimed a $24.75 million Lotto Texas jackpot, but the winner’s identity remains a mystery.

“The claimant elected to remain anonymous,” the Texas Lottery said in a press release early Wednesday afternoon.

A state law that went into effect in September 2017 allows lottery winners to remain anonymous.

The winner selected the cash value option when the ticket for the Dec. 2, 2017 drawing was purchased and received $17,367,065.53.

The winning ticket was sold at Evans Express Lube at 701 Live Oak St. in Marlin, and the company is eligible to receive a $247,926.51 retailer bonus.

The store’s owner, Charles Evans, 88, told KWTX in December he didn’t know who purchased the ticket.

Tammy Krumnow, who manages the store for Evans, said the person who won played six specific numbers rather than purchasing a quick-pick ticket, for which numbers are selected randomly.

"He or she has obviously been playing the game a long time,” she said.
