Sears Holdings Corp. will close two dozen Sears Auto Centers, including three each in California and Texas, as part of a plan to close 103 stores in the company's latest round of closures announced on Jan. 4.
More of the closures, including 64 Kmart stores and 39 Sears stores, will occur in early April.
The Sears Auto Centers slated to be closed include three in California (Brea, Hanford and Westminster and Texas (Austin, Midland, Houston); two in Idaho (Coeur D'Alene, Twin Falls), Illinois (Bourbonnais, Orland Park), New York (Hicksville, Kingston) and Pennsylvania (Hanover, Pittsburgh); and one each in Alaska (Anchorage); Delaware (Wilmington); Florida (Boca Raton); Georgia (Centerville); Indiana (Evansville); Massachusetts (Burlington); Maine (Bangor); New Jersey (Toms River); Oregon (Springfield); and Wisconsin (Green Bay).
The Midland location will close early this month. The others either in late January or late February, according to a release from Sears Holding.
Eleven months ago, Sears Holdings opened its first DieHard Auto Center Driven by Sears location in San Antonio, as an "off mall" pilot shop aimed at offering a contemporary setting with interactive in-store displays.
