A cat was rescued from the dashboard of a car after a driver came to work with a stray kitten sitting on his engine.

Eric Hermansen, owner of Chet's Car Care, said in all the years he's worked at the family business he's seen quite a bit but this call threw him for a loop.

The driver of the car, Sean Goodroad, heard a noise but wasn't quite sure what it was.

"I started hearing meowing coming from somewhere... and as I drove I started hearing it from my hood," Goodroad said. "Not sure what I was going to find but the cat was sitting right there and he just looked up at me and started meowing."

To keep the cat safe, Goodroad put the cat in the car with him, but that didn't last long. The eight-week-old kitten got scared and crawled inside the dashboard

"At that point he ran down under the dashboard and that's when he got stuck," Goodroad said.

That’s when Goodroad called Chet’s Car Care and about 6.5 hours later the cat was free.

After a positive checkup at the vet, the stray cat was adopted by Sean Goodroad.
