An auto shop in Seekonk, MA. has been destroyed by fire.

Several vehicles inside, including a classic car, were burned.

“Everything is gone. Not even one tool,” Robert Rego, who is the owner of Rego’s Auto Service on Taunton Avenue, told NBC10 Tuesday. “This is my life. This is my life."

Rego said he left the shop after 8 p.m. and then got a call around 11 p.m. that it was on fire.

“It hurts very bad,” Rego said.

Much of the building melted or is charred.

Three customers’ vehicles in the garage were burned beyond repair, including an antique 1968 Camaro.

Other long-time customers stopped by to console Rego.

“Everybody loves him. Everybody loves him because he’s a nice man. He’s a good man,” said Victor Perez.

After a dozen years in a rented shop, Rego moved his business to the building on Taunton Avenue two years ago and did a lot of work on it to get it ready.

His son works with him.

“That’s my dream. That’s my kid’s dream. That’s for my son,” he said of the business.

Rego said he has insurance, will now look for a temporary shop to work out of, and will hopefully be back.

“It’s my life. I have to build it from the ground up again,” he said.

Rego said he doesn’t know how the fire started.

There was no word from the Seekonk Fire Department on what might have caused it.
