Man Shoots Self at Auto Repair Shop

A man at Northside Service, an automotive repair shop in Abilene, Texas, was shot in the leg Tuesday afternoon with a 20-gauge shotgun.

A man at Northside Service, an automotive repair shop in Abilene, Texas, was shot in the leg Tuesday afternoon with a 20-gauge shotgun. Initial reports indicate he accidentally shot himself.

According to the Abilene Reporter-News, the shooting allegedly happened in the front of the business where several cars were parked.

Police arrived at the scene after 4 p.m. A gun was found in the fenced-off lot behind the shop, and there were no witnesses to the event.

The 32-year-old man, who worked at the shop, was reported to be alert when loaded into the ambulance to be transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

"Right now we don't believe any foul play is at hand, but we're still going through all the forensics just to make sure we get all the evidence collected," said Sgt. Josh Davis.

Davis stated that the victim did not say where the gun came from or what he was doing with it.

"Nobody wants to talk about the gun," Davis said.
