June 10, 2019—A Nevada Jiffy Lube franchise gave away $5,000 in scholarships to high schools students to close the 2018-2019 academic year.

Lena Richardson of Douglas High School in Minden received $3,500, while Jake Kattelman of Damonte Ranch High School in Reno received $1,500, according to Northern Nevada Business View.

It's part of the "What Drives You" scholarship contest, which asked area high school students to submit 500-word essays about their ambitions. Finalists then have to submit a one-to-two-minute video to make it to the winning selection.

Douglas High School received $500 from the franchise for submitting the most essays.

The franchise, run by Griffin Fast Lube LLC, operates in the Nevada areas of Reno, Sparks, Carson City, Fallon and Minden. They run 57 shops in total across Utah, Nevada and Colorado.
