The cheapest on the list is $16.5 million.

July 18, 2019—MSN Autos compiled the most expensive cars ever sold at auction and, as one might expect, there are a lot of Ferraris listed.

The cheapest car on the list comes in at a measly $16.5 million. Other vehicles on the countdown include a gorgeous 1959 Ferrari 250 GT LWB California Spider Competizione, which finished fifth in the 1960 12 Hours of Sebring race, according to MSN. That fetched the cool price of $18.15 million.

The non-Ferraris include a couple Alfa Romeos, Aston Martins and a wild-looking 1955 Jaguar D-Type that sold for $21.78 million.

An American automaker appeared on the list with Gary Cooper's 1935 Duesenberg SSj, which was a $22 million purchase in 2018.

The most expensive car was, unsurprisingly, a Ferrari. MSN described it as the "holy grail of classic collector cars," and it sold for a reported $48.405 million.
