BG Products Opens New Center for Training, Testing

The 34,000-square-foot expansion was years in the making.

July 22, 2019—BG Products cut the ribbon in front of its brand new, 34,000-square-foot expansion facility in mid-July.

The new building at the Wichita, Kan. headquarters will house a chemistry lab and automotive testing facility, as well as training spaces for the in-house BG University program, according to the company.

"This is our latest step in providing the highest quality products in the field, the best team in the field and being the leaders of innovation in the field," BG President Darin Greseth said in a press release.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony included a tour of the facility, a demonstration on the company's new dynamometer and a showcase of BG's 3-D printers and scanners.

Plans for the expansion began in 2016, and work began with the demolition of older buildings in 2017. There were a lot of logistical hurdles during construction. Here's what BG said about the "shuffle:"

In total, more than 60 people and their equipment from different departments made the temporary move for over a year.

The BGU training room was re-purposed into office space. Operations staff were moved from Wichita to El Dorado (Kan.) in order to create temporary office space for the Proving Ground and Technology staff. Wichita warehouse space was converted into a temporary Auto Lab and demo area, and several offices and meeting rooms became temporary lab space. This complicated shuffle was completed by Fall of 2017.

New construction broke ground in 2018. The official ribbon-cutting event took place on July 16, 2019.
