Even the oil pan on the new GT500 is high-tech.

Aug. 12, 2019—Automotive industry players and journalists have been salivating over the recent announcements about the 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500.

For one, it produces 760 hp from a 5.2-liter supercharged V8. And there's all sorts of tech on board to keep this powerful car operating like it should, which Motor Trend recently highlighted in an article.

One of those features is an interesting oil pan, which is designed to retain flow performance during sharp, race track cornering and holds an impressive 11 quarts. Here's how Motor Trend describes it:

The structural aluminum oil pan (the transmission bolts up to it) features flap baffles that retain oil around the sump during 1.5-g cornering and features a pair of sizable "ears" on either side that help to expand the pan's volume to an almost dry-sump-like 11 quarts.
