Oct. 12, 2019

The two companies are joining to launch auto shops in Chinese and U.S. markets, with the pilot phase beginning this month.

Oct. 12, 2019—A new project between Bosch and Castrol will bring dual-branded auto shops to China and the United States.

The pilot phase begins this month to build the workshops in Suzhou, China, as well as the Orlando and Tampa areas of Florida, according to a press release. The total buildout could have as many as 25 locations in each country.

The shops will have "advanced, digitally-enabled services bringing drivers the highest levels of quality and convenience at an affordable price," according to the release. The companies envision a modern, digitally enriched maintenance experience for customers.

The press release didn't specify the range of maintenance services that will be offered at the shops.

"Together with Castrol, our two leading brands will join forces for a new workshop concept to serve today`s and tomorrow`s market needs and to reach more business partners and drivers," said Manfred Baden, president of Bosch automotive aftermarket, in the release. "This new offer pursues our goal of providing our customers with a comprehensive, future-oriented range of mobility services for various kinds of vehicles."

Firm commitments to more shops will be based on the success of the pilot shops.
