Nov. 20, 2019—Take 5 Oil Change announced that it will award a $5,660 scholarship to one student each semester at Texas Tech University.
The company said in a press release that it will kick off the initiative at the Lubbock-based institution's Saturday football game tailgate.
The first scholarship winner is John Garza, a junior from Deer Park, Texas. He's studying sports management and public relations, and he works in the school's athletic development department.
“We are proud to partner with the University to provide support to its students and the local community,“ said Summer Nunn, Senior Vice President of Marketing for Take 5 Oil Change, in the press release. “The Take 5 Oil Change Scholarship will help one student each semester cover some of the costs of their education. We are also excited to bring our model of fast, friendly and affordable oil change service to Lubbock.”
