Around the Industry: 2014 Automotive Service Excellence Tech of the Year
Bridgestone Retail Operations (BSRO) recently announced that Jamie Bullis has been honored as the BSRO/National Institute for Automotive Service Master Automobile Technician of the Year. Bullis, only the second working female technician to attain this honor in more than 30 years of competition (with approximately 1,200 winners during that span), was recognized at the annual ASE Fall Board Meeting and Awards Banquet in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
The ASE Master Automobile Technician of the Year award recognizes a technician for his or her outstanding individual achievements, including top ASE test scores, on-the-job excellence and community service. Bullis is among 47 technicians from across the automotive industry who were honored at the awards banquet.
“Jamie exemplifies the culture of innovation, dedication and world-class automotive and customer service we strive to embody in our stores,” said BSRO president Stu Crum. “Her leadership, high ethical standards and the professional demeanor she carries with her in all aspects of her day-to-day work make her a very deserving recipient of this prestigious recognition.”
Bullis, who works at BSRO’s Firestone Complete Auto Care location in Minnetonka, Minnesota, joined BSRO in 2006 after earning her Associate Degree in automotive technology at Dakota County Technical College. Since joining the team, she has risen to the rank of lead technician at one of the highest volume stores in BSRO’s Minneapolis Region. In addition to being an Automotive ASE Master Technician with L1 certification, Bullis has received numerous awards for exceptional customer service and productivity.
“We are pleased that Jamie Bullis has been named BSRO ASE Tech of the Year,” said Tim Zilke, president and CEO, the National Institute of Automotive Service Excellence. “Her contributions both to BSRO and her community are exactly what we look for in our winners. Jamie is a great role model for other women working as techs in this industry, and it’s fantastic to recognize her for her efforts.”
