Dec. 10, 2020

An 84-year-old man received a large settlement after falling into an open pit at a repair shop in the Raleigh, N.C. area.

Dec. 10, 2020—A law firm is reporting that its client received a $1.8 million settlement after falling into an open pit in a service bay.

The firm—Osborn Gambale Beckley and Budd—didn't disclose the name of the business but said the lawsuit came against both a shop franchisor and franchisee. The law firm is based in the Raleigh, N.C., area.

The client, an 84-year-old man, suffered brain injuries when he fell into the open pit in 2019. The law firm argued that the shop floor plan and "lack of adequate warnings" violated labor laws.
