The Cobb County Board of Commissioners voted 4-0-1 Tuesday to deny the request of Petroleum Realty II to open Take 5 Oil Change at 1913 Piedmont Road in Cobb, Georgia.

The business would have been at the corner of Sandy Plains Road, where Commissioner JoAnn Birrell noted “a lot” of foot traffic, as well as vehicle traffic, with Sprayberry High across the street and other commercial businesses.

Birrell recommended the denial, also citing storm water management issues, although she said she liked the concept of Take 5 Oil Change.

On behalf of Take 5, Scott Stone said the company has nearly 50 locations throughout the Southeast U.S. where only oil changes and quick repairs take place and customers remain in their vehicles while the work is completed.

The only other Georgia location is at 6569 Roswell Road.
