Jan. 26, 2021— Samaritan Car Care Clinic, which provides free oil changes and other routine car maintenance to low-income people in Northern Kentucky four times a year, is looking to expand, WCPO reports.
Founded in 2007 by members of the Madison Avenue Christian Church in Covington, Ky., the clinic borrows space from a local auto body shop every three months. The 16 half-hour appointments for oil changes and basic maintenance fill up quickly.
Now the clinic is hoping to raise enough money to open a full-time not-for-profit shop to help with basic maintenance and repairs that can throw low-income families in a tailspin. He figures it would cost more than $200,000 per year to support the kind of nonprofit auto shop he envisions.
