Happy January! It’s that time of year when everyone is making New Year’s Resolutions. I’m falling back to my old standbys, but doesn’t everyone? However, if you’re looking for some new ideas, though, be sure to check out a few of our new series’ in the magazine — franchise spotlight (page 30), out-of-the box add-ons (page 38) and today’s technology (page 42).

Making resolutions is a tradition for some, and at NOLN we have our traditions as well — the Fast Lube and Oil Change-Plus Programs Guide (page 14) and Vertical Outlook (page 46). One of my favorite articles in this month’s magazine (on page 24) is our Moments With Legends. The “legends” are industry pioneers Joe Haggard and Scotti Lee. When I think of these guys, I just think of good friends and good guys. I met Joe about 26 years ago during the National Association of Independent Lubes (NAIL) days. Joe is a pioneer who taught many lube legends-to-be everything they needed to know to get started in the industry. Scotti Lee has become a good friend of mine over the years, and I remember getting to know him back in 1996, when he won the NOLN Operator of the Year award. Scotti has been a huge advocate for the fast lube industry and has some really neat stories. Plus, he’s also a great fishing buddy! I hope you enjoy the article. And you can be looking for more articles about the good ol’ days and industry pioneers, as NOLN gets ready to head into its 30th year this July.

Until next time, keep on lubin.'
