July 16, 2021—GM is warning some Chevrolet Bolt owners that were part of a recent recall not to park their vehicles indoors or to leave them charging overnight after two of the model recently caught fire.
According to a report from CNBC, the two vehicles were part of a recall on 69,000 Bolts produced between 2017 and 2019. One was charging overnight in a home, and GM did not specify where the other occured.
“General Motors has been notified of two recent Chevrolet Bolt EV fire incidents in vehicles that were remedied as part of the safety recall announced in November 2020,” the company said in a statement. “Out of an abundance of caution, we are asking owners of 2017-2019 Chevrolet Bolt EVs who were part of the recall population to park their vehicles outdoors immediately after charging and not leave their vehicles charging overnight while we investigate these incidents.”
GM says customers who have not gotten their car fixed for the original recall should still visit the dealer while the investigation is ongoing.
