Exxon Mobil on Wednesday offered a new contract proposal to locked-out workers at its Beaumont, Tx., refinery and oil plant.

Oct. 4, 2021—Exxon Mobil on Wednesday offered a new contract proposal to locked-out workers at its Beaumont, Texas, refinery and oil plant.

The lockout started back on May 1 according to a report from Reuters, with Exxon saying it barred around 650 workers from the plant due to fears that a strike could disrupt production. The plant produces around 369,000 barrels a day.

Leaders of the United Steelworkers union said the offer from Exxon, though it did address some concerns of seniority protection, still fell short.

"Although these changes are recognized as movement by the company, the overall 40-page comprehensive offer still leaves much to be desired," the leaders said in a statement issued Wednesday night.
