Jan. 14, 2021—Take 5 Oil Change is in preliminary stages to build a joint oil change and car wash facility in Kokomo, Ind.
According to the Kokomo Tribune, the new shop will be the "first of its kind" in the state and will be built on the site of a former Ruby Tuesday in Kokomo, which is about 60 miles directly north of Indianapolis on State Highway 31.
The project received the greenlight earlier this week from the Kokomo City Council after the committee voted to change the zoning of the site to allow for an automotive shop.
Kyle Flaming, a senior project manager for the design firm that is working on the site, said the shop will have three quick lube bays and will be able to accommodate 16 vehicles that are waiting. In addition to one car wash tunnel that will be able to fit five cars at max capacity, the facility will also have 17 vacuum bays.
