Ford Announces Recall to Fix Oil Leaks and Trailer Brakes

April 5, 2022

Over 730,000 Ford vehicles are affected by two recently announced recalls, causing an increased risk for crash as well as potential fire hazards.

April 4, 2022Ford has announced two major recalls for over 730,000 of their vehicles. The recalls pertain to oil leaks and trailer braking systems that are not working correctly, according to Fox13 Seattle

The oil leaks involve a potential for a cracked oil separator housing, which would allow oil to leak into engine parts and result in a fire hazard. This recall includes the 2020 through 2022 Ford Escape SUV and the 2021 and 2022 Bronco Sport SUV with 1.5-liter engine. Affected owners will be notified beginning on April 18, and dealers will be able to replace the housing if necessary.

A software error is to blame for the malfunctioning trailer braking systems in some 2021 and 2022 F-150 pickups as well as the 2022 F-250, 350, 450 and 550. Also included in the recall are the 2022 Maverick pickup, the Ford Expedition and the Lincoln Navigator SUV. This software error could result in an increased risk of crash. Owners of affected vehicles will be notified beginning April 18, and dealers will be able update this brake control software.
