Hyundai Recalls 215K Vehicles for Hose Issue

May 12, 2022

Low pressure fuel hoses in certain Sonata sedans may crack due to engine heat, causing an increased risk of fire.

May 12, 2022—Hyundai has announced the recall of 215,000 vehicles due to a hose issue that may cause an increased fire risk.

According to MLive, the recall impacts some 2013 and 2014 Sonata sedans. Many of these sedans were also recalled in 2020 for the same issue.

As a response to that recall, hoses were inspected for damage, replaced if necessary and a heat-resistant tape was installed if no damage was found.

As for the more recent recall, Hyundai has shared that a low pressure fuel hose can crack because of engine heat, and fuel may leak which causes an increased risk of fire.

Owners of affected vehicles will be notified starting July 5, and faulty hoses will be replaced.
