June 7, 2022—Mercedes-Benz has announced an immediate recall for almost one million vehicles worldwide.

According to The New York Times, the recall affects ML and GL series of SUVs sold between the years of 2004 and 2015. There are concerns with these vehicles that the brakes could fail.

More than 933,400 vehicles are affected in this recall, and owners of the affected vehicles will be contacted soon by Mercedes-Benz with more information.

Tests have shown that advanced corrosion could lead to leakage of the brake booster and ultimately cause problems with the braking mechanism overall.

The vehicles will be recalled for inspection, and Mercedes-Benz has said it has no way of knowing how many have the corrosion damage.

The recall was issued by Germany's Motor Transport Authority, KBA.
