The 12,000-square-foot facility will provide the space and resources needed to maintain vehicle fleets operated by the city of Gentilly, Louisiana.

Oct. 31, 2022—A new $6 million local Equipment Maintenance Division facility has opened in Gentilly, Louisiana.

According to the Gentilly Messenger, the 12,000-square-foot maintenance facility replaces a previous facility that was damaged during Hurricane Katrina in 2005. The new facility will be used to maintain and service the city's vehicle fleet.

The Equipment Maintenance Division conducts around 220 vehicle repairs per month, according to the Gentilly Messenger. The new facility will provide access to the space and resources needed for fleet service. Some features at the new facility include a five-ton overhead crane, point of service lube delivery, improved office space, parking and more.

The new facility was funded with $5.4 million in FEMA funds and $600,000 in city bonds. Local fleets operated by the EMD include dump trucks, police cars, light trucks, fire apparatuses and more.
